Embracing sustainability: Implementing life cycle-oriented decision support for regulatory compliance in product development
European regulations are increasingly focusing on collecting and optimizing product-related sustainability and recyclability indicators throughout the entire product life cycle. Examples include the 2027 requirement to provide a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) for industrial batteries and the implementation of minimum recycled content quotas in the automotive sector. To ensure long-term competitiveness, companies must implement efficient decision support systems for these life-cycle-oriented metrics in their activities. Automated approaches and digital consistency are key prerequisites for this and are supported by systems such as product lifecycle management (PLM), which plays an enabling role. This is demonstrated in the field of lifecycle-oriented design. The focus is on incorporating sustainability requirements early in the product development process.
Our topics:
- Which standardized key figures must be considered in the context of applicable regulations?
- How can efficient decision support be implemented in the design?
- What requirements and interactions arise from this for supporting systems, such as PLM?
The webinar aims to highlight the challenges of implementing life cycle-oriented decision support in design and describe digital solutions. Participants will learn about the structural and data-oriented transformations necessary for achieving this goal.
