Berlin Center for Digital Transformation

Benefit from the added value of digital transformation

The Berlin Center for Digital Transformation develops technologies and solutions that take into account the increasing digitization and networking of all areas of life. Within the Center, the four Fraunhofer Institutes Fraunhofer FOKUS, Fraunhofer HHI, Fraunhofer IPK and Fraunhofer IZM conduct research on basic and cross-sectional technologies for the application areas »Networked Industry & Production«, »Networked Mobility & City of the Future«, »Networked Healthcare« and »Networked Critical Infrastructures & Energy«. Industry partners and public institutions have the opportunity to cooperate with the participating Fraunhofer Institutes in research projects.

Fraunhofer IPK is setting up a Industry 4.0 Lab within the scope of the Berlin Center, which brings together the manufacturing industry with providers from the fields of information and communication technology as well as automation equipment suppliers. It supports and coordinates the identification of research topics relevant to the location, the implementation of joint projects to create innovative solutions, and the implementation in industrial applications. As a joint center and concerted initiative of players from industry, IT economy, and research and science institutions in Berlin, it contributes significantly to the profiling and positioning of the industrial city of Berlin as a relevant actor and hub for digital production and cooperation in value networks.
