AI-Driven Lifecycle Management for End-of-Life Household Appliances
In the KIKERP project, researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK are working with partners to develop an AI assistance system that evaluates refrigerators, washing machines and similar appliances that have reached the end of their useful life to determine the most effective next step: Are they suitable for repair and refurbishment, or do they need to be recycled instead? Incorporated into a cloud-based management platform, the system identifies household appliances based on images, helping to determine their quality and price so the used and refurbished products can be sold on e-commerce portals.

SIAE 2025: Digital Twins in Airplanes
Let‘s meet in Paris: From June 16 to 22, at the International Paris Air Show (SIAE) in Le Bourget, Fraunhofer IPK will showcase digital solutions that improve the planning of aircraft interiors as well as product life cycle management in the aviation industry and make it more sustainable.

Fraunhofer IPK hosts semiconductor workshop in Dresden

A new real-world laboratory was opened today at the 4th ReTraNetz-BB network forum at the Production Technology Center (PTZ) in Berlin. The laboratory supports the transformation of the vehicle and supplier industry in the Berlin-Brandenburg region and provides a forward-looking space for the transformation of mobility.
