In interdisciplinary teams, we develop new applications for classic arc welding processes as well as for modern beam welding processes and coating technologies. By simulating welding processes as well as distortion and residual stresses, we support the rapid introduction of economical, energy-efficient processes in the industry. The goal of our work is to design the joining and coating of new materials and material combinations in accordance with requirements, to increase the quality and reliability of joints and coatings, and to improve processes in terms of productivity, occupational safety, and protection of the environment and resources.
