PTZ welcomes British Science Minister

The United Kingdom‘s Minister for Universities, Research, Science and Innovation, Sam Gyimah MP, visited the PTZ this Wednesday, 7 November 2018. TU Berlin and Fraunhofer IPK are two stops in the course of the Minister’s two-day tour of Berlin with the aim of strengthening UK's international research and development relations.

 

While visiting the PTZ, Mr. Gyimah learned about Industry 4.0 and the Fraunhofer model of applied research. During the subsequent tour, he gave particular attention to the demonstration of a gesture-based robot control system including digital twin technology. While handling a 20 ?m thin steel wire with copper coating he acquainted himself with the dimensions with which researchers at our Application Center for Microproduction Technology work every day.

Later this evening, Mr. Gyimah will speak as a guest of honor at Berlin City Hall at the award ceremony for the Berlin Science Prize 2018. He was invited by the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller.
