The ProViT project developed virtual reality technologies and deployed them in distributed use cases to achieve further improvements in the immersive telepresence of teleconferencing. The basic aim of the project was to establish the feasibility of immersive product development by virtual teams of up to ten participants geographically distributed across the world, to identify the types of information and communication technology such virtual cooperation should be built on, and to identify the changes this implies for today’s familiar workflows in mechanical engineering and construction.[more]
